Robust real-time pressure and temperature sensor system that eliminates the need
for gate valves and instrument flanges. The system is designed to maintain well
integrity even upon impact or collision.

 

Challenge

Wells with planned or unplanned sustained annulus pressure pose a considerable risk to personnel and facilities. Continuous monitoring of this pressure is critical for safe operations. Conventional monitoring systems often contain a gauge downstream gate valves/flanges.


Gate valves provide only a single barrier. Impact or collision can breach this barrier. Blockage by valve lubricant can impair pressure gauge operation. Regulatory and/or company requirements may demand continuous monitoring and alarms.

 

 

Solution

The VR Sense system, provides continuous monitoring, even during ESD shut downs. The VR Sense is designed with two independent metal-to-metal barriers. Should an impact or collision take place, the API 6FD/FB fire tested gas tight VR sensor plug will remain within the wellhead.


The VR sense removes potential issues related to viscous valve lubricant and can substantially lower installation and maintenance costs. 

 

The system also eliminates the need for human intervention in conjunction with gauge calibration, gate valve operation and maintenance.
